Most care services need to be paid for.
However, if you have had an Assessment of your Care Needs and have been assessed as needing services, you may be eligible for help with payment from your Local Authority following a financial assessment.
Some services do not require payment, such as free personal and nursing care.
If you have serious continuing healthcare needs, you may be eligible for NHS Continuing Health Care.
In this section you can also find out about Local Authority charging policies and about self directed support, which puts you in charge of arranging your own care services.
You should also check that you are receiving all the benefits you may be entitled to.
If you are currently living in or considering a care home, our section on paying care home fees offers information on the things you need to know about this complex subject and where to get specialist advice.
