Carers Information Strategy
Each Health Board in Scotland is required to produce a Carers Information Strategy which sets out how they will inform carers of their right to a Carer's Assessment and gives them information which may help them in their caring role.
The Community Care and Health (Scotland) Act 2002 introduced this requirement on Health Boards to produce a Carers Information Strategy with the aim of improving consistency in the approach to informing and supporting carers throughout Scotland.
The strategy is designed to provide information to carers at each point of contact with health services. It also signposts to local organisations, such as the local carers centre, who will be able to give additional support. NHS Boards must provide a copy of their Carer's Information Strategy to anyone who requests it.
